Our VR game aims to create awareness about the serious issue of online grooming and its impact on victims. In this educational experience, players step into the shoes of the groomer and interact with three different female victims–a child, a teenager, and a high school student–to gain a better understanding of the grooming process. Through interactive gameplay, players will also explore ways to recognize suspicious behaviors and build empathy for potential victims. The objective is to equip players with knowledge and skills to prevent grooming incidents and protect vulnerable individuals in real-life situations.

"Bait" is a unique and immersive VR game designed to raise awareness about the dangers of online grooming. Players put on a VR headset and are guided through a series of scenarios that highlight the importance of recognizing and avoiding potential dangers on the internet.

The game begins with players finding themselves at an ATM. Their objective is to press each button on the ATM to gain paper bills, a present, and a gift card. These items represent potential tools used by online predators to entice victims of different ages.

As players progress, they are confronted with scenarios that lead them to online grooming and sex crimes as offenders. Players are tasked with placing virtual victims into cells, symbolizing the isolation and manipulation that groomers subject their targets to, then harassing each individual. Throughout the experience, players are urged to reflect on the potential consequences of such actions.

The game was collaboratively developed as Henry contributed 3D modeling for characters and items, while Joon took charge of programming the game. Yebin wrote an engaging storyline and provided voice-overs for the characters, ensuring a relatable and informative experience.

Lastly, Danika designed the background mood and settings to create a gloomy, dim atmosphere for players. Please feel free to share this piece with your friends and loved ones so that you can help spread awareness about online grooming.
